You’ve seen this graphic floating around, right? It’s so true. I am the one on the right.
Except my indox has upwards of 35,000 emails. 35,000!!!! That’s ridiculous. It started off just thinking – oh I’ll read this later and then 400 email subscriptions later, it’s out of control. I think it also makes me want to buy things. All the emails with the sales – the SALES!! Ahhh…I DO need more polos at 50% off for the kids – they only have 20 each!
And look at all the household wares at Overstock! That solid white couch will look great in my dream living room that I don’t have, better keep that email…
I don’t really know if it takes up a huge amount of space on my phone or anything but for some reason it weighs on my soul! Like – on my death bed – I’ll be wishing I had gotten around to clearing out my email inbox! And I feel shame – I don’t want anyone to see my phone for fear they will judge me for the ridiculous number of unread emails. Can I get an amen? Anyone?
Ok, maybe it’s just me. But I feel like it’s just to far gone now but this is the email I do use most so I don’t want to just chuck it and start over. There’s so much attached to it and I don’t even remember all the accounts that are connected so best to keep it. SO!
Everyday, starting…today. I am going to take 5 minutes (give or take) and unsubscribe from everything that came in that day. Then I will take 3 minutes and delete for 3 whole minutes. Let’s see how long it takes me to get rid of 35,000 emails.
I am anticipating a feeling of relief, elation, and great satisfaction. Perhaps I shall even bake myself a celebratory cake. It will be an empty inbox party to rival all others. I will send you an evite.
